Day 5

 Bonjour!

Today kicked my butt!  As usual did the morning wake up ritual.  Mykle and I ran to Brico Marche to make a return and pick up a few things.

I put together the scaffolding that we purchased.  Even putting together in French it was a success.  LOL

Today was the start of demo! So, I headed over to the house and got the ball rolling.  I was able to get all of the ceiling tiles, tracks in the foyer, living and dining room areas.  I also removed all of the ceiling lights and got those suckers capped off. Electric is different than in the states, EVERYTHING is 220!

Mykle helped  me organize having someone come to the house and pick up the yard clippings from all of the yard cleanup.  I learn what a Foreigner Tax was..... There is a cost for locals and then there is the over priced marked up price for foreigners.  I'm used to it as living in Michigan with Illinois plates they do the same. He quoted 150 euro and we agreed on 80 euro. I wanted it gone!

Started demoing the wall in the foyer.

Usually, demo involves opening a can of worms.  So far, everything was better than I had expected for being built in the 1800's. The ceilings were in great condition with plaster cove moldings.  I also discovered that the kitchen walls weren't load barring to those suckers will be coming down.

OMG, I was in the courtyard and the cathedral that is steps away, the bells rang ever so loudly and lovely in the courtyard.  That sound will never get old.

As usual another great night of food and company.  Mykle made/pressed homemade flour and corn tortillas and had tacos.  Played a couple of games of Farkle and watched a little Kath and Kim (tv show).

Au revoir!
