Day 6

Bonjour!

Crazy to think that I left one week ago today. Damn time flies. I have to say that I miss home and everything that comes with it.  Sitting on the deck in the afternoon with Jon and Petey by my side soaking up all the fresh air. :) Being here with Doug and Mykle is so easy and feels like home,  The four of us are cut from the same cloth, the light hearted sarcasm, laughs and time shared is priceless.   

Okay, it's official, I hurt!  I finished demoing both bedroom ceilings and capped off all electrical as well as the kitchen ceiling.  I have to admit, I LOVE THE 13' CEILINGS! However, the can of worms showed me some black mold. NO worries, I got it all down and fortunately wasn't as bad as I anticipated.  Did I mention that I hurt? LOL

I've been struggling with ceil service / Wi-Fi since being here as AT&T isn't European friendly. The only time I have access to the internet is when here at Doug and Mykle's.  So, today Mykle and I went to Orange (not pronounced like the fruit) to see if they could add their plan to my phone.  No luck, so we ordered a phone to be delivered tomorrow to get me up and running.

Today is Doug's 71st Birthday! Happy Birthday Doug!!!!! We had a lovely evening in with filthy dirty martini's with blue cheese olives, blue cheese burgers with caramelized onions and homemade sweet potato fries. The food never disappoints! played a few games of Farkle, some low key tv, got some work done and created this blog.

Bonjour! Let's just skip to it....It kicked my ass! I finished demoing everything in the sunroom, took out the doors of the utility closet and bathroom.  Finished off by demoing the wall and fixtures of the bathroom.  I was doing so well to the end...I sent Mykle a text "There's no rush.  Could you pop over? I'm bleeding but can't see it. I don't think it's bad."  It usually takes us literally one minute door to door and I swear he was here in 45 seconds. LOL So, I may have been on a ladder and there might have been a solid plaster block 6" thick by 2'x3' that fell backwards and hit my head and slid down my back. WTF.  I told Kim about the incident and she told me I better come back alive.  I said ' Don't worry you won't be picking up a pine box from the airport! LOL I got a lot done today and looking forward to tomorrow where I plan on demoing the wall between the bedrooms.  Had a lovely chicken tandoori meat pie and fresh sal...

Arrival Night

Bonjour! After an 8.5 hour flight and after a 8 hour layover I was on my last leg of the trip.  As we were landing in Pau, France you could some of the remaining snow cap mountains, the beautiful rolling green hills and the rustic little villages that date back to the 1300's! Upon my arrival at the Pau Pyrenees airport, our friend Mykle was waiting for my arrival.  When I landed, I let him know that I had arrived and he said "Only in France can I sit on a picnic table and watch my friends plane land while reading a book".  LOVE!!!!  We then proceeded to drive to his and Doug's home in Oloron Sainte Marie. (Where Jon and I bought our home) Meanwhile, Doug was at home preparing dinner and had a bottle of wine ready for my arrival. Dinner was delicious as always.  We played a few games of Farkle and off to bed I went as I felt like I was awake for days!  Au revoir!

Day 27

 Okay, where do I begin?  Honestly..... Today is both Mykle's birthday and  a nation catholic holiday "Assumption Day" https://nationaltoday.com/feast-of-the-assumption/ today. So knowing it's a holiday like a Sunday, there is no work today.  So, keeping this in mind I took a sleep aid last night in every attempt to sleep in.   I woke up naturally and spent the morning working on J Harper Design work.  I finished up some work on a client in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and a client in Mooresville, NC.   Mykle and I headed to Le Clerc to pick up a few groceries and souvenirs before they closed for the holiday hours.  We also swung by the Lindt chocolate factory to pick u a few things to take home as well. Came back home and took a nap. While we were watching a cooking show on tv and Doug was in the kitchen cooking dinner, we heard a weird rumble and felt it at the same time.  WE HAD AN EARTHQUAKE, 3.0 hit our area!  Not quit...
