Day 20

Bonjour!

Well, I'm not sure I could put in words how awesome the day was.

It started off by my alarm clock shocking the shit out of me as I set the alarm clock for our day out.  I slept like crap last night as I had one disturbing dream after another.  One of my dreams was about an earthquake and after waking up I learned that there was one in our region last night. https://www.volcanodiscovery.com/earthquakes/quake-info/7799555/mag2quake-Aug-7-2023-France-near-Pau.html?fbclid=IwAR2_h7xmgdibZAlC_EE-qssmutm6RKIG_TzLCJU3vEdy9hnJwOWbyBl-P5o  How crazy is that?

The three of us were planning a trip to Artouste today.  Doug wasn't feeling well so it was just Mykle and myself.  Mykle ran to the boulangerie a few doors down and got us some pastries for breakfast and picked up two poulette curry sandwiches. One word yummmm!  A chicken with a yellow curry sauce and a veggie tapenade on a large baguette.  Take me know for just now evening thinking of it.

Mykle and I headed to Artouste.  It's a bit of a drive (a little over an hour), through small villages, and working our way up the Pyrenees mountain range.  I had to idea what to expect so it was truly an adventure.  As we drove up the mountainside we say views of the surrounding villages, waterfalls and rapids of the Gave (Mountain fed river).  As we pulled of on our turn you could see nothing but blue skies, crystal blue waters and views of the Pyrenees mountain tops.  We parked, and walked up to the entrance where we took the Sagette gondola to the train station that took us to the top.  It's known as the highest train in Europe. https://www.guide-bearn-pyrenees.com/en/do-it-your-way/family-time/article-the-artouste-train-a-journey-to-the-heights-of-the-pyrenees-111.html  There, were hiked up the rest of the way to the views of a lake that literally takes your breath away.  We hiked a bit and found a shady spot and popped a squat and enjoyed our poulette curry sandwiches will looking at some of the best views I've ever seen.

This particular free day will go down in history as one of my favorites! Thank you Mykle for sharing this opportunity with me. :)
The rest of the evening was uneventful as I'm pooped from hiking up a literal mountain. Mykle and I walked over to a restaurant "Authentic Burger" that is NEVER open for dinner. Below are several pictures of  the day.  Sorry, I know there's a lot!

Stay tuned for more progress on the house tomorrow!

Au revoir!
