Day 10

 Bonjour!

What a day what a day!  Started the morning off as usual and headed over to the house.

Today I finished off demoing the kitchen walls and removed the cooktop and propane tank.  That where the adventure starts....  I started the demo the other day and the outlet that I saw was dead, so I continued on to day and when the saw -zaw hit the approximate area, ZAP!  That's right, without details I had a shock from a 220 outlet.  You would think that I would stop there, but those of you who know me know that that's not enough to stop me. LOL

I finished up those areas and moved over to the wall between the foyer and the living room.  Keep in mind the walls are a plaster type of material approx. 6 inches thick and heavy in full pieces.  I had a plan of attack and had the scaffolding all set up and thought I was good to go. We'll, that's where that adventure starts.  I started in the middle at the top and cut down the 4' wall.  Ummmm, the entire brick wall fell.  Hit my arm/bicep, slid down and dented the top portion of the scaffolding pretty badly, then f'ing up one of the legs and then I realized that it hit the propane tank and gas was filling the room.  I'm okay, but could have been pretty bad! Needless to say, I got everything demoed and a bit more of a wall that was not expected.

Later, Doug and Mykle popped over after I texted them and said "I should be dead". LOL  They came over with their neighbors (Brigette & Michel) from the first floor as they are interested in our project. They also ran into the next door neighbor of ours and she joined.  She's familiar with the building as she once worked in the house/building.  She had a bit of new history for us that was different than what we had originally heard.  We had heard that before the lady/son who inherited the house it was an accounting firm.  Before that it was supposed to have been a girls school and prior to that a boys school.  Her version goes back to the accounting firm and before that it was a factory that had children working in it.  She also said that she has an old picture of the building and is going to send to Mykle.  Once I get I will share!!!

It's been a long hard day of work and Doug is making a chicken curry for dinner.  It will be an early evening for me for sure!

Tomorrow, will be a free day.  We are taking the train into Pau to see the last leg / Finish line of the ladies Tour de France.  That will be exciting.  Pics to come!

Oau Revoir!
