Day 18

 Bonjour!

Woke up naturally slammed a little light breakfast and snuck out of the house before Doug and Mykle got up.  

I headed to the house and got started by finishing up demoing a wall and removing the wet, moldy insulation. I removed a few floor boards to see the condition of the floors and what I saw justified what I've heard and researched.  I saw where there were pipes under the wood planks and nails near if not in them as well as rot and moisture.  At that point my day came to a halt as I needed to touch base with Jon and have a serious heart to heart about this demo and to what lengths we need to go to fix the issues at hand.  

As much as I hate these calls home, it had to be done. Fortunately, as with all of our renovations, we looked at the BIG picture and realized that we need to do a full gut job and basically rebuild it back up.  When done, it will be a dry/mold free home that will be 100% new and a home that we can enjoy for years to come.  I feel very fortunate having a husband that trusts me and supports me in these endeavors.

Tonight is Pizza Sunday.  I would say there will be a little Farkle and possibly some apple pie.  Until tomorrow.

Bonjour! Let's just skip to it....It kicked my ass! I finished demoing everything in the sunroom, took out the doors of the utility closet and bathroom.  Finished off by demoing the wall and fixtures of the bathroom.  I was doing so well to the end...I sent Mykle a text "There's no rush.  Could you pop over? I'm bleeding but can't see it. I don't think it's bad."  It usually takes us literally one minute door to door and I swear he was here in 45 seconds. LOL So, I may have been on a ladder and there might have been a solid plaster block 6" thick by 2'x3' that fell backwards and hit my head and slid down my back. WTF.  I told Kim about the incident and she told me I better come back alive.  I said ' Don't worry you won't be picking up a pine box from the airport! LOL I got a lot done today and looking forward to tomorrow where I plan on demoing the wall between the bedrooms.  Had a lovely chicken tandoori meat pie and fresh sal...

Arrival Night

Bonjour! After an 8.5 hour flight and after a 8 hour layover I was on my last leg of the trip.  As we were landing in Pau, France you could some of the remaining snow cap mountains, the beautiful rolling green hills and the rustic little villages that date back to the 1300's! Upon my arrival at the Pau Pyrenees airport, our friend Mykle was waiting for my arrival.  When I landed, I let him know that I had arrived and he said "Only in France can I sit on a picnic table and watch my friends plane land while reading a book".  LOVE!!!!  We then proceeded to drive to his and Doug's home in Oloron Sainte Marie. (Where Jon and I bought our home) Meanwhile, Doug was at home preparing dinner and had a bottle of wine ready for my arrival. Dinner was delicious as always.  We played a few games of Farkle and off to bed I went as I felt like I was awake for days!  Au revoir!

Day 27

 Okay, where do I begin?  Honestly..... Today is both Mykle's birthday and  a nation catholic holiday "Assumption Day" https://nationaltoday.com/feast-of-the-assumption/ today. So knowing it's a holiday like a Sunday, there is no work today.  So, keeping this in mind I took a sleep aid last night in every attempt to sleep in.   I woke up naturally and spent the morning working on J Harper Design work.  I finished up some work on a client in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and a client in Mooresville, NC.   Mykle and I headed to Le Clerc to pick up a few groceries and souvenirs before they closed for the holiday hours.  We also swung by the Lindt chocolate factory to pick u a few things to take home as well. Came back home and took a nap. While we were watching a cooking show on tv and Doug was in the kitchen cooking dinner, we heard a weird rumble and felt it at the same time.  WE HAD AN EARTHQUAKE, 3.0 hit our area!  Not quit...
